Soke Gary Wasniewski receives
the highest Honours and Grades in Martial Arts
2001 On 1st September Soke Gary Wasniewski, 10th
Dan, was invited to Florida, U.S.A. to receive
the highest honours possible at the World Sokeship
Council's Awards Ceremony. Not only was he elected
onto the Grandmaster Council, receiving yet another
10th Dan certificate, but he was also honoured
as 'Grandmaster of the Year'. A month later, on
1st November, Soke Gary was invited to Pittsburgh
U.S.A. and was elected onto the prestigious Black
Belt Hall of Fame by the Eastern U.S.A. I.M.A.A.
Once more he received a 10th Dan certificate and
the highest level of recognition as 'Grandmaster
of the Year'. In addition to this, he has also
been elected as a member of the executive commitee,
representing the whole of England. Earlier in
the year Soke Gary also received the 'Combat Hall
of Fame Award', presented in Birmingham by its
editor, Paul Clifton.
All of these awards were displayed
at the TY-GA National Championships at Crystal
Palace on 18th November, attended this year by
several guests of honour. Next years championships
are going to be televised worldwide, reaching
a larger audience than ever before.
